Notting Hill Carnival 2013

The Notting Hill Carnival is an annual event that since 1966 has taken place on the streets of Notting Hill, Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, London, UK each August, over three days (the August bank holiday Monday and the two days beforehand). It is led by members of the West Indian community. The carnival has attracted around one million people in the past years, making it one of the largest street festivals in the world.

OAU Student Gives Birth & Tries to Flush New Born Baby Down the Toilet in School Hostel

According to yesterday’s report, a female student of Obafemi Awolowo University gave birth in the Moremi Hostel hall toilet and attempted to flush the baby but was caught my the hall cleaners.

It was gathered that ‘Oyin’ (as she’s known around school), a 400l student of Electrical and Electronics Engineering perpetuated the act in the early hours of Tuesday.

According to a student of the school who sent in the photo, a cleaner heard a baby crying inside one of the toilet stalls and then saw blood coming from under the door. She quickly went to call other cleaners around and they forced the door open.

It was a tragic day recently in Enugu State as two brothers, Ekene and Chiebolam Eze, whose mother is a widow, attacked and beat a top government staff who works in the Health Department to death following the man’s bedroom game with their mother.

A 41-year-old Woman has been arrested for poisoning her family as revenge after they went shopping excluding her.

Ann Marie Haines, of Lehigh County, Pennsylvania, is behind bars for allegedly poisoning burritos and then feeding them to her family.

Haines allegedly added different medications to the dinner she cooked on Tuesday night because her husband and her daughter did not invite her when they went shopping for a new car, police said. Investigators said Haines took medication, crushed it and put them in the burritos, which she then gave to her husband and daughter.

A 48-year-old man claims to be Jesus and that he came back to save the world.

Phetole Selepe, from Dan village, South Africa, claims he is Jesus Christ and was sent by his ancestors to save the world.

Selepe has been living on the banks of the Letaba River which is located in the Eastern Limpopo Province of South Africa, since 2004, where he performed his rituals.

Although he was arrested more than eight times, the local municipality was unable to evict him. He seems to be “untouchable,” as he claims to be protected by a large water snake.

He thinks he can bring people back from the dead and that one day he will lead his people to Canaan and wash their sins. Selepe, who goes by many different identities, said he used one of his names, Molalatladi, to control the world.

Swaziland has launched a crackdown on high-flying witches after banning them from hovering above 150metres. Anyone caught flying their broomstick above the height limit faces arrest and a hefty R500,000 fine, the country’s Civil Aviation Authorities said this week.

According to the Corporate Affairs Sabelo Dlamini ‘A witch on a broomstick should not fly above the [150-metre] limit,’. The new aviation law was highlighted after a private investigator was caught flying a helicopter equipped with a video camera to gather surveillance information.

Witchcraft is taken seriously in Swaziland where many people believe in the power of black magic. Last year a leading Swazi MP called for a hike in tax paid by witch doctors to help ease the cash-strapped country’s financial woes.

The unique duo of Tunde and Wunmi Obe (T. W. O.) got honoured with Entertainment Couple Award in the just held event organised by Theatre Arts Students Association of Lagos State University.

There is no denying the fact that this couple have put so much into the craft, and have come a long way in getting better in respect to what they do. The duo definitely have so much to celebrate, and amidst all, this is the beginning of greater times and awards to come.
