Lanre Teriba Shot By Unidentified Gunmen

I want to start believing that owning a gun is now considered a household item in South Africa, going by the spate of shooting and killing.

Gospel singer, Lanre‘Atorise’Teriba was in South Africa on the 15th of this month to perform at a Valentine show tagged Praise Night Concert.

But things went another way after the show was over. He was attacked by unknown gunmen and was shot in the leg.
His phones, Ipad and Gold wrist watch were all taken from him.

He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital. Another musician Dele Taiwo was present at the show but wasn’t attacked.

We wish him a quick recovery.

“N150 Million not N5 Billion Budgeted for Rehabilitation of Prostitutes” – FCT Minister

Contrary to news reports of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) budgeting N5 Billion for the rehabilitation of prostitutes which made the rounds last week, the FCT minister, Senator Bala Mohammed has debunked the claims stating that the actual amount set aside for the project was infact N150 million. He therefore called on all residents of FCT and indeed, the entire Nigerian populace  to totally disregard the reports about the 2013 budget of the FCT pertaining to destitute and prostitutes rehabilitation, calling them an outright misrepresentation of the facts and figures of the budget.

In a statement signed by the Special Assistant (Media) to the FCT Minister, Mr. Nosike Ogbuenyi, the minister stated that “the entire budget of the Social Development Secretariat for the 2013 fiscal year is N4.7billion only. Out of this amount, the sum of N931.3 million is for personnel cost; N1.6billion for overhead expenditure and N2.2billion for capital expenditure. The sum of N150million only out of this is for evacuation and rehabilitation of destitute, prostitutes (commercial sex workers) and other vulnerable persons.”

Samsung Galaxy S4 Rumored to Launch in March

Samsung Galaxy S4 (coming soon)

Considered by gadget and sophisticated phone lovers to be too soon, the SamMobile fan site says that the Samsung Galaxy S4 Smartphone will be unveiled on the 15th of March, 2013. A report which has remained anonymous has stated that the S4 would begin selling by early April.

Attempts to get direct verification from Samsung, however, have not been fruitful, as they say it is their policy to comment on such rumors or speculation. I mean, why should they, since it is good for business? Speculation is always a good thing.

Some say that the Galaxy S series is Samsung’s way to compete with Apple’s iPhone in the Smartphone market. Some might even say that they are on the top rival list for the iPhone’s run. The anticipation and suspense which greeted the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S3 was pretty high, and it is expected that the launch of the S4 would beat that.

The Samsung fan site says that the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S4 would be like that of its predecessors:  Europe and Asia would be the first receivers of the phone at the beginning of April, then the S4 would reach Africa (and Nigeria), Australia and the Americas by May or June.

Would it be appropriate to say that the Galaxy S4 is being released too soon, considering the time space between its speculated release and the release of the S3?
